A Great Start to A New School Year

We have had a busy weekend as we prepared to get school started. We had a great morning on Saturday at Haltom High School with dads and kids (or students, or young people, or heathens, whichever fits).

We discussed what parents needed to do and what students needed to do to work together towards a successful school year. Students wanted trust (and knew they had to earn it) and open communication (perhaps via text?) Dads wanted open some credit for knowing about life and school and also wanted communication (perhaps through a REAL phone call every once in a while. We had a great time and are looking forward to many more sessions at Haltom High.

Sunday we had a HOT time of prayer at each school in Springtown ISD as we had dads come out to pray for their kids, their school, and the upcoming school year.

Over 60 dads (and moms) met to pray for our children as the school year started.

I took my own son to his first day of high school at Springtown High (GO PORCUPINES!) We took his picture for the first day of high school but he does not want me to post it!

Then I ran out to Haltom High (Go Buffalos!-until you play the porcupines) to help the Strong Fathers at HHS as they greeted students on their way to school. the high school students wanted to act like they did not like it but many of them were smiling as they tried to act too cool to give an old man a high five.

Strong Fathers-Strong Families is looking to a great school year with great students and STRONG FATHERS all over the country. We are still scheduling school events and we will be in New York next week where I hope it is not 105 like it is here in DFW!
