  • Each player draws 2 dominoes from the pile and turns them over.
  • Add together all of the dots on your dominos The largest sum wins that round and keeps all of the dominoes
  • Play ends when all of the dominoes have been drawn.
  • The player with the most dominoes wins.

2. Subtraction Battle

  • Mix the dominoes and then put all of them to one side of the table
  • Each player draws 2 dominoes from the pile and turns them over.
  • Subtract the smaller number of dots from the larger number of dots The smallest difference wins that round and keeps all of the dominoes
  • Play ends when all of the dominoes have been drawn.
  • The player with the most dominoes wins.

3. Multiplication Battle

  • Mix the dominoes and then put all of them to one side of the table
  • Each player draws 2 dominoes from the pile and turns them over.
  • Multiply the number of dots on one side by the number of dots on the other side The largest product wins that round and keeps all of the dominoes
  • Play ends when all of the dominoes have been drawn.
  • The player with the most dominoes wins.

4. Action 18

  • Player one draws a domino. Players add them together.
  • The first player to give the correct answer out loud scores one point and wins the domino
  • Players alternate drawing dominoes and continue to accumulate points (dominoes).
  • Players must take a point away (lose the domino) for giving the wrong answer.
  • First player to score eighteen points is the winner.

5. Baseball Addition Dominoes

  • Each Player draws three dominoes and arranges them into a 3 digit addition problem.
  • The object is to make the largest sum possible.
  • The player with the highest sum scores one point.
  • Each player takes a 3 dominoes and continues.
  • The first player to store 9 points (innings) wins.

6. Pig

  • Pig is played by 2 people with dominoes.
  • The object is to be the first player to score 100 points by adding the totals on the dominoes after each turn.
  • The players take turns drawing dominoes, however, a player may draw as many times as he wishes as long as he does not draw a domino with  a one.
  • If a 1 is drawn the player gives up the turn and loses all points earned during that turn.
  • If the double 1 or the double blank is drawn,  the player gives up the turn, loses all his count, and starts again at 0.

7. Domino Windows

This is a challenge that you might like to take on by yourself or with a group of friends. In this diagram the four dominoes make a ‘window’ with one empty space. The spots on each side total nine. Can you make seven windows like this using all 28 dominoes so that each window has the same spot-sum for each side? One window need not have the same spot-sum as another. (nrich.maths.org)
